Founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1984, Gampo Abbey is a Western Buddhist Monastery in the Shambhala tradition, in Nova Scotia, Canada. Under the direction of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, the spiritual head of Shambhala International, Gampo Abbey is guided by its abbot the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche.
Pema is particularly dedicated to doing whatever she can to make it possible for nuns to have the same opportunities for deep study and practice as monks have always had. Our support of the nuns will ensure that they’ll be able to learn, master, and pass down this tradition that could otherwise be lost.
The PCF Book Initiative aims to make Pema’s books and recorded teachings available to underserved individuals, and the organizations that serve them, free of charge.
This program is for the benefit of those who have no access to Pema’s teachings, and to groups and not-for-profit organizations who serve people in need.
Pema is committed to assisting organizations which serve at-risk communities, particularly those organizations which promote healing and growth through mindfulness practices. The Pema Chödrön Foundation’s support of these inspiring programs enables groups of vulnerable people to not only heal and grow, but also to thrive and flourish in their respective communities. The Foundation supports these essential programs for youth and adults alike.
